About the event

Twenty six (26) contestants will be in the show on April 9 which will also feature the first ever Interscholastic Steelpan Competition, or Panorama, among elementary schools. Sixteen (16) youngsters will compete in the Junior Carnival Calypso Competition, 10 will be in the Junior Roadmarch Competition and 8 elementary schools will compete in the Panorama.

The show will be held at the harbor facilities in Point Blanche with tickets currently at US $20 but will increase to $25 at the gate. It will get an early starting time of 5:00pm on that day and the public is being asked to attend early as the running program will be tight and efficient.

“To say that we are ecstatic about this show would be an understatement. The SCDF would like to congratulate The Mighty Dow, his foundation and his team members for this event for putting in such hard work and for dedicating so much time to these children,” President of the SCDF Edwardo Radjouki said.

“Dow and his team has proven that they are the right people for this event and we look forward to working with him to protect and grow the art form of Calypso among our youth as well as junior Roadmarch. The fact that steelpan is included is the cherry on the cake. He is molding musicians and singers and thereby inspiring the future of our culture and safeguarding these art forms,” Radjouki added.
