Application period opened for Carnival 2017 Concert nights

PHILIPSBURG - The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has opened the application period for concert promoters who wish to obtain a night in Carnival Village as part of the 2017 Carnival festivities.

This is annually the first step for the SCDF is preparing a schedule for the following Carnival. Once the foundation selects the promoters it wishes to work with, the schedule can be finalized and presented sometime in August.

Persons/entities wishing to obtain a night must submit a number of documents along with their cover letter requesting a night.

These are: Proof of entertainment company registration at the Chamber of Commerce complete with crib number, a history of the company and events hosted, three business references, a certified bank letter and a description of the type of concert they wish to host.

Once the application period expires, SCDF will then do its due diligence with all requests, including discussions with potential concert promoters, until selections are made. Interested persons/entities have until July 1, 2016 to submit requests to SCDF.

These requests can either be emailed to the SCDF at sxmcarnival@hotmail.com or dropped off at the foundation’s office on Illidge Road above the Windward Islands Bank branch. Questions can also be directed to the aforementioned email address.

The SCDF further informs that there are existing concerts/brands that it gives preference to annually.
