Companies can purchase Carnival season passes in bulk for employees

PHILIPSBURG - The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) announced over the weekend that Carnival 2017 Season Passes can now only be acquired by companies who wish to purchase the passes for their personnel in bulks of 10 or more.

The registration period for individual season passes closed on November 1, which was also the general Carnival registration period. The foundation has since decided to give companies the opportunity until December 1 or if the maximum amount of season passes that the SCDF can sell is reached before that date.

“Whether the company chooses to purchase the passes as Christmas gifts for their employees, part of a bonus or an under arrangement that can be paid back, is entirely up to the company. The persons must be employed at the company and the amount must be 10 or more,” SCDF President Alston Lourens said.

“There are many Carnival lovers working at our major companies who might have missed the registration period. If this is the case, we hope they nudge their employers into doing this which could become an annual thing for the company,” he added.
